Mediaset Buys 'Rookie Blue' Sophomore Season

The Italian broadcaster picks up the free-TV rights to the Canadian cop drama's second season from Entertainment One.

TORONTO -- Italy’s Mediaset has acquired the Canadian cop drama Rookie Blue from Entertainment One. The deal gives the Italian broadcaster the free-TV rights for  the ABC/Global Television series's second season set to bow in North America on June 16.

The Canadian drama follows five rookie cops, and stars Missy Peregrym, Gregory Smith and Enuka Okuma.

Rookie Blue, which is shot in Toronto, was developed by Canadian indie producer Thump, in partnership with Entertainment One.
