Meet Amal Clooney's New Favorite Shoe Designer
Sarah Flint's elegant designs are making their way onto the Hollywood set.
A new shoe designer is hitting Hollywood this week with a collection that's refreshingly understated.
Just 27-years-old, New York-based Sarah Flint launched her collection in the fall of 2013 and sells at eight Barneys New York stores, including Beverly Hills, starting this week.
Her sexy but sensible designs, some with names inspired by old Hollywood — Stanwyck, Crawford, Hayworth, Gilda, Lana — have already been worn by Alexa Chung, Blake Lively and most enthusiastically Amal Clooney.
Clooney has been photographed three times wearing Flint's instantly classic, 2-inch block-heeled Emma pumps.

"Amal Clooney has latched onto that shoe," says Flint, who grew up in the Boston area and studied shoe design in New York and Italy, where her collection is made. "She's perfect for the brand — accessible, philanthropic, beautiful, successful. And people who follow her fashion are actually shoppers."
Flint's vision is to create "sexy, feminine shoes you can walk in," she says. "I think there is a space for that. My generation, in particular, is not willing to put up with uncomfortable shoes."

Styles include espadrilles with an origami-like fold on the toe, ankle strap sandals that come in gold snake, and ivory-and-gold T-strap sandals. Prices range from $495 to $1,800.
The designer, who is in L.A. this week meeting with stylists in hopes of upping her red-carpet profile, already has some fashion industry heavyweights in her corner, including producer and Full Picture CEO Desiree Gruber, who serves on her board, and former Barneys New York CEO Howard Socol, who she counts as a close advisor.
