The anchor is set to moderate the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum onstage with the Russian president.

Megyn Kelly will get an audience with Russia's Vladimir Putin.

Kelly — who started her new job at NBC News this week — is set to moderate the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on stage with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to an NBC News spokesperson.

The conversation will cover a range of global political and economic topics, including international trade agreements, cyber-security and the impact of rising military tensions. The annual conference will take place June 1-3 in Russia. Known as "Russia's Davos," it attracts world leaders and business luminaries.

Kelly's participation was apparently brokered by NBC News chairman Andrew Lack, who jetted to Russia last week and had an audience with Putin.

This year's conference will take place as the U.S. intelligence community has established that Russia meddled in the U.S. election to the benefit of President Donald Trump and the FBI continues to investigate links between Trump campaign operatives and Russia.

Kelly's daytime show is set to bow in September in the 9 a.m. slot, NBC News confirmed Monday. And her Sunday night newsmagazine is set to get a run beginning in June. She is readying a sit-down with the Kardashian family for the morning program. Kelly was spotted last week on the set of E!'s Keeping Up With the Kardashians

There is high interest in a Putin interview at news divisions. And NBC News insiders are hopeful that Kelly's participation at the forum will lead to a one-on-one with Putin.

Of course, filmmaker and provocateur Oliver Stone has had several interviews with the Russian strongman. And yesterday, Showtime announced that it has acquired the rights to Stone's The Putin Interviews with plans to air the documentary over four nights beginning June 12.
