Mei Ah preps Japan outlet

HONG KONG -- The Mei Ah Entertainment Group, one of the major distributors and re-distributors of Chinese-language cinema and TV in Hong Kong, is set to launch a channel in Japan this March through subsidiary Mei Ah TV, the company announced Friday.

MATV will broadcast on Japanese TV station Sky PerfecTV, providing Chinese-language cinema and TV programs with Japanese subtitles.

The network already has landed channels on Macau Cable TV and MioTV in Singapore, screening the latest in Asian cinema, including such titles as "Men Suddenly in Black 2," "Death Note" and "Naraka 19."

MATV launched the Mei Ah Movie Channel in Hong Kong through PCCW's Now TV platform in 2005, broadcasting films, and producing original entertainment content, using the large back catalog of films owned by Mei Ah Entertainment Group.

The channel plans to offer HD programs in the near future.
