Melania Trump Denies Deleting Website Over College Education Discrepancies
The former model's biography on the 2016 Republican National Convention's website says she holds a degree.
Melania Trump on Thursday addressed reports that her personal website had been taken down because of discrepancies concerning her college education.
According to screenshots of her former site — which now redirects to the Trump Organization — the 46-year-old former model and wife of the GOP presidential nominee, Donald Trump, obtained a degree in design and architecture at University in Slovenia. But that credential has since been questioned.
"Melania decamped to Milan after her first year of college, effectively dropping out," according to a recent GQ profile.
Still, her biography on the 2016 Republican National Convention's website (it appears there because she was a speaker on opening night) also says she holds a degree.
Thursday afternoon, Melania tweeted an explanation of why her website no longer exists, but she did not address the education accusations.
"The website in question was created in 2012 and has been removed because it does not accurately reflect my current business and professional interests," Melania tweeted.
Citing an unauthorized biography, The Hill reported that Melania's education was thought-up by the campaign to make her seem intelligent and accomplished.
