Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone Reteam With Steve Mallory for 'Super-Intelligence' (Exclusive)
New Line has scooped up the spec by Mallory, who previously co-wrote 'The Boss' with McCarthy and Falcone.
Screenwriter Steve Mallory is reteaming with Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone for his next script, Super-Intelligence. New Line Cinema has preemptively purchased the spec screenplay by Mallory, and McCarthy and Falcone will produce via their On the Day banner.
It's a reunion for the trio, who wrote 2016 comedy The Boss together. The Universal film starred McCarthy and was helmed by Falcone. It earned $78.8 million worldwide.
New Line also is releasing the upcoming comedy Life of the Party, which stars McCarthy and is being helmed by Falcone. The film, which also stars Molly Gordon, Maya Rudolph, Julie Bowen and Gillian Jacobs, is slated for release on May 11, 2018. Mallory serves as a co-producer.
McCarthy and Falcone have been collaborating with Mallory since their days together as members of renowned improv comedy group The Groundlings.
The logline for Super-Intelligence is being kept under wraps, but it's a high-concept action/unconventional buddy comedy set against the phenomenon of technological singularity.
Mallory is repped by MGMT and Jamie Feldman at Lichter Grossman.
McCarthy will soon be seen in Marielle Heller’s Can You Ever Forgive Me for Fox Searchlight and is attached to produce and star in Margie Claus at New Line. Falcone co-wrote the script for Margie Claus, and the two are also producing The Happytime Murders, which is set up at STX. McCarthy and Falcone are repped by MGMT and CAA.
