'Melodrama' opening Brussels film fest

Festival will showcase five world premieres

BRUSSELS -- The Brussels European Film Festival, which kicks off June 28, will feature five world premieres. The fest, a showcase for debut or second features from young directors, opens with the comedy "Melodrama Habibi" from Paris-based Lebanese director Hany Tamba.

Other premieres include the festival's closing feature, "Tricks," directed by Poland's Andrzej Jakimowski; "Fermat's Room," directed by Spain's Luis Piedrahita and Rodrigo Sopena; "La noche de los girasols," directed by Spaniard Jorge Sanchez-Cabezudo; and "It's Hard to Be Nice," directed by Bosnia's Srdan Vuletic.
