Meredith Vieira's Husband Recovering in Hospital Following a Blood Clot

The former "View" host revealed on Twitter that her husband, Richard Cohen, is recovering from his health scare and is already "flirting with nurses."

Meredith Vieira used Twitter to keep followers updated on her husband's health scare following the couple's "scary weekend" after a blood clot was discovered in Richard Cohen's leg and spread to his lungs.

On Tuesday, the former View host and special correspondent for NBC News thanked her followers for their kind thoughts and prayers, and revealed that "Richard is feeling better and already flirting with the nurses."

News producer, Cohen, 66, has  battled multiple sclerosis for decades and wrote a book about his declining health titled, Blindsided, which he described as a "reluctant memoir" about "lifting a life above illness." He has also had two bouts with colon cancer, beginning in 1999.

"He is out of the woods thanks to fabulous docs and nurses at St John's Riverside Hospital and Mt Sinai Hospital. Can't thank them enough," said Vieira in one of her heartfelt tweets. 

Vieira and Cohen were married in 1986 and have three children. The former Today host made history during the Sochi Olympics when she stood in for ailing Bob Costas to become the first woman to anchor NBC's primetime coverage of the games solo.
