Message of support for hostage MEP

Ignasi Guardans Cambo feared taken hostage in Mumbai

LONDON -- The European Producers Club, a Paris collective and lobbying group for producers, sent a message of support to the family of European Parliament minister Ignasi Guardans Cambo, who is one of the hundreds feared to have been taken hostage in Mumbai, India.

EPC managing director Alexandra Lebret expressed her sympathy for Cambo's family "and to all the hostages caught in this horrible situation."

As the ripples of the armed militant terrorist attacks in India hit European and international consciousness Thursday, news of Cambo's involvement brought the massacre to producer's doors.

Cambo is a strong defender of the audiovisual industry in the European Parliament and seen as a key lobby voice for producers in Europe.

At time of going to press, Cambo is one of the hundreds of people trapped in his room at the Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai.

The EPC currently has a delegation of producers in India in the seaside resort of Goa attending a cooperation forum for European members and Indian industry reps.
