Met Gala 2013: Amber Heard, Emilia Clarke and Kate Beckinsale Wear Red
Black may have been the color to beat at the punk-themed ball, but nothing says anarchy like a good red dress.
Want to let everyone around you know that you're trouble? Then put on a red dress. The bold color is a notorious standout, and in the anarchy-fueled punk rock world that influenced the fashion on display at this year's Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute exhibit, that's a very good thing.
A slew of notable attendees chose red to make their mark Monday night. Among them was Kate Beckinsale, who wore a red Alberta Ferretti strapless gown that, with a gathered, voluminous silhouette, vaguely reminded of one of Alexander McQueen's famous "Highland Rape" dresses from 1995 that still remains the epitome of proper punk-meets-glamour dressing.
Below, other red looks we loved at the 2013 Met Gala.
Maggie Gyllenhaal looked sleek and sophisticated in Calvin Klein with a punky, studded Bulgari choker.
Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke stunned in a vibrant Ralph Lauren gown that would have almost been too Old Hollywood glamour had it not been for one very important accessory — a single oversized cross earring that made the look appropriately punk.
Amber Heard was a guest of Emilio Pucci for the evening, and appropriately wore a sequined, lace and sheer column gown by the label and called brand designer Peter Dundas her date.
Aussie actress Teresa Palmer went for a dramatic, yet wearable red gown and subtle accessories — which seemed to be a theme of the night.
