Met Gala: Lady Gaga Performs While Unveiling 4 Layered Looks

The pop star wore multiple Brandon Maxwell designs, revealed during a theatrical performance on the red carpet.

Lady Gaga arguably had the campiest of camp looks at Monday night's Met Gala. The Oscar-winning star (who is also a co-host of the fete) teamed up with her former stylist Brandon Maxwell, who designed four custom pieces, revealed in a high-performance act on the pink carpet.

She instantly garnered approval from Anna Wintour, who stood at the top of the stairs to watch Gaga’s fashion performance piece before saying, “I love it,” with a smile on her face.

Making a show-stopping entrance, the multihyphenate arrived in a voluminous fuchsia dress, which was belted with an equally large bow. Completing the ensemble, an oversized ribbon protected her platinum blond locks, which were accented with bows made of hair. Her grandiose procession continued with a small army of umbrella-holding back-up dancers, who helped keep her 25-foot train afloat as she trekked down the carpet.

Surprise and delight was the theme as Gaga revealed that her gown was actually a cape concealing a black asymmetrical dress with a voluminous bustle side.

The big reveal continued as Gaga’s black look morphed into a bright pink column dress, accented with crystal-bedecked sunglasses and a Tiffany & Co. butterfly necklace.

Up next, Gaga gave the ultimate cabaret performance and stripped down to a black bra and panty set salted with crystals and finished with fishnet stockings and glittering platform boots.

Instead of a purse, the Star Is Born actress pulled a hot pink "Haus of Gaga" wagon behind her that was embellished with a gilded handle and wheels and carried lucite hat boxes containing pink hats as well as bottles of Maxwell’s line of rosé, jewelry and other accessories.

As a prelude to her act on Monday night, Gaga attended the pre-Met Gala dinner party in a Marc Jacobs black-and-white striped minidress with rows of black and white flounces. To complete the look, she chose a high-reaching head-piece, an impossibly small embellished bag, tear-drop earrings, black stockings and combat boots.
