Method acting school to open in India

Lee Strasberg Institute to open in Mumbai, Hyderabad

NEW DELHI -- Method acting school, Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute will open two training outposts in Mumbai and Hyderabad by early 2010 in partnership with Connecticut-based Optimus Management and veteran Bollywood director Rahuul Rawail.

As CEO of the Indian institutes, Rawail hopes "to offer the next generation of talented Indian actors the chance to compete globally as the country continues to export more of its films and its stars to the international market." Rawail is best known for 1980s action films such as "Arjun" and "Dacait."

Faculty members will soon be visiting New York for training.

Strasberg, who was also artistic director of the famed Actor's Studio in New York, founded his institute in 1969. Alumni include James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.
