Mexican Comic 'Capulina' Dies at 85
Gaspar Henaine Perez appeared in dozens of films and television shows during his career.
After a six-decade career, Mexican comic 'Capulina,' died Friday at 85, the Associated Press reports.
A spokesperson for the National Actors Association in Mexico said Gaspar Henaine Perez died in a Mexico City hospital. His cause of death has not been released. Perez had suffered from pneumonia and ulcers.
As Capulina, he was featured in a dozens of films, often playing the sidekick role wearing a hat without a crown. He also appeared in kids' television shows and films.
A memorial service was being held on Friday, the spokesperson said.
Perez was born on Jan. 6, 1926 and is survived by his wife and his children, a son and a daughter.
