The 'La Fea Mas Bella' producer and former head of studio for Televisa is launching a U.S.-based production company for Latinx talent.

Veteran Mexican TV executive and showrunner Rosy Ocampo has signed with APA in all areas.

Ocampo will work with APA to launch a U.S.-based production company focused on bringing authentic Latinx voices and stories to both the U.S. and global television markets. Ocampo is also a former head of studio for Televisa, where she oversaw development and production of content for free and pay TV channels at Televisa and its sister network, Univision.

Ocampo’s production of La Fea Mas Bella (The Prettiest Ugly Girl), the Mexican version of the Colombian telenovela and global franchise that ABC adapted as Ugly Betty, holds the record as the most viewed TV series in Mexico. Ocampo also discovered Mexican star talent like Belinda, Diego Boneta and Jaime Camil.

“It has been a dream many years in the making to venture outside of the studio that saw me grow. I’m excited for this transition and to bring my expertise in Latinx audiences around the world to champion stories and talent on both sides of the border. I’m looking forward to working with the brilliant team at APA to build this new chapter in my career," Ocampo in a statement said of her plans to launch a U.S. based production banner.

Ocampo has been a judge at the International Emmy Awards, and has been twice nominated for the GLAAD Awards.
