MGM chief to keynote at Amazia event

MGM chairman and CEO Harry Sloan will deliver a keynote speech as part of the two-day Amazia entertainment summit, which is set to open the inaugural Amazia multimedia market event in the fall.

About 160 companies have agreed to exhibit at the event, which is organized by MIP owners Reed Midem, and will unspool Nov. 18-20 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.

Sloan is the first confirmed keynoter for the confab, which will unite media and entertainment figures from the Far East, the U.S. and Europe.

Amazia is billing itself as the first business-to-business exhibition, conference and networking event based in Asia to be devoted to the creation and distribution of television, music and gaming content across all delivery platforms.

Sloan headed New World and Lionsgate before building European station group SBS Broadcasting. He assumed the top role at the Lion in 2005.
