MGM, Orange ink European VOD deal

PARIS -- The MGM lion is seeing orange as the U.S. studio has signed a multiyear VOD agreement with telecommunications company Orange in France, Spain, Poland and the U.K., both companies said Tuesday.

The new deal will allow Orange customers in all four territories with broadband digital TV or Internet packages to access films from MGM's catalog.

For French Orange customers, titles include classics such as "Some Like It Hot" and "Annie Hall," boxoffice hits such as "The Silence of the Lambs" and "Rocky" and recent blockbuster "Casino Royale."

Subscribers to Orange's "24/24 Video" service can choose from a catalog of 3,000 films and 6,000 TV shows updated weekly to watch on TV or the Internet at any time of day.

Prices start at 1 euro ($1.47) per film for a 24-hour rental period of unlimited viewing either in French or in the original language with subtitles.
