At the same time, Amazon sets April 30 for Jordan’s starring vehicle 'Without Remorse,' an action thriller based on Tom Clancy's book.

Amazon and Michael B. Jordan’s production banner, Outlier Society, have magnified their partnership, signing the actor and his company into a first-look film deal and an overall television deal.

As the first order of business, Amazon has given a debut date for Jordan’s starring vehicle, Without Remorse. The action thriller, based on the 1993 novel by Tom Clancy, will launch globally on Amazon Prime Video on April 30.

Outlier is coming off a film deal with Warner Bros. Pictures, where it was housed since the beginning of January 2019, and set a first-look deal with Amazon a month later. The new deal now puts both Outlier divisions under one roof and gives Amazon its newest double-barreled content supplier.

According to Amazon’s announcement, the film pact will see Outlier "produce and acquire elevated films showcasing diverse, bold filmmakers and talent for the studio’s ever-growing original movies slate."

But the deal won’t just be constrained to film and TV as Jordan and Outlier will also have cross-collaboration with Amazon's wide array of businesses, from fashion to Audible to music and beyond. Already Jordan appeared in Amazon’s Super Bowl spot promoting its Alexa service. Amazon is touting the deal as a "360-degree creative collaboration."

The film deal comes scant weeks after former Paramount president of production executive Elizabeth Raposo joined Outlier as president, which its arrival fully charged and raring to go. Raposo will be responsible for overseeing all production and development aspects of the shingle alongside Jordan.

"We’re excited to deepen our relationship with Outlier Society! Michael, Liz and the team will be key partners in our efforts to showcase compelling, ambitious and addictive content that can reach our global audience. They share our passion for amplifying new and exciting voices with an emphasis on diversity both above and below the line," said Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke in a statement. "We can’t wait for everyone to see Without Remorse, our next chapter in the Tom Clancy universe. It’s an action-packed thrill ride fans will love."

Jordan added: "Bringing Outlier Society's slate of film, television and multi-media content all under the same roof is an exciting next chapter for us. Amazon's global and expansive reach offers us the ability to entertain and engage our audience in innovative ways, while maintaining our commitment to supporting a wide range of stories and storytellers. I'm thrilled to be kicking off the partnership with Without Remorse this Spring."

Without Remorse was made by Paramount during Raposo’s tenure. Jordan stars as Navy SEAL John Clark, aka John Kelly, and the character is part of the espionage world created by author Clancy. Amazon is already in that world with its hit Clancy-based series Jack Ryan that stars John Krasinski.

Directed by Stefano Sollima, the origin story tells of Clark looking for revenge after losing his family to a squad of Russian soldiers. When he teams up with fellow SEAL (Jodie Turner-Smith) and a shadowy CIA agent (Jamie Bell), Clark exposes a covert plot that threatens to engulf the U.S. and Russia in an all-out war. Jordan is one of the film’s producers.

Jordan’s last feature was the legal drama Just Mercy, released in 2019 by Warners. Upcoming projects include includes the Denzel Washington-directed feature Journal for Jordan with Jordan starring and producing; Creed III, the third installment of the Rocky franchise for MGM which will see Jordan reprise his role as Adonis Creed; and DC property Static Shock.
