Michael Nyman's Acceleration Company Hires 3 Senior Executives
The marketing, media and advisory firm has tapped David Kingsdale as head of acquisitions, Scott Floyd as head of collaboration and Robert Ogden as chief financial officer.
Eight months after announcing the creation of his marketing, media and advisory firm — Acceleration Community of Companies — former PMK*BNC co-chairman and CEO Michael Nyman is ready to confirm a slate of new hires.
Nyman, ACC's founder and CEO, has appointed David Kingsdale as head of acquisitions, Scott Floyd as head of collaboration and Robert Ogden as chief financial officer. The appointments are effective immediately.
Kingsdale, a veteran executive, entrepreneur and attorney who currently serves as chairman of the board for financial firm Aspiration.com, will identify acquisition candidates and lead negotiations for acquisitions and strategic investments.
Floyd joins Acceleration after having most recently served as senior vp marketing and operations for Will.i.am's tech start-up I.AM.PLUS. He knows Nyman from their PMK*BNC days as Floyd spent 20 years there in various roles including overseeing the growth department. He will now be focused on this collaboration role, in which he will work on connecting all business units populating ACC.
As CFO, Ogden is charged with overseeing finance and acquisitions strategy including financial oversight of ACC and its operating group as well as financial diligence and structuring of acquisitions. He previously ran strategy and corporate development at Madison Wells Media and served as an investment professional at Screen Capital International.
Nyman launched ACC in April with a pledge to offer a "fresh approach" to the space where strategy, technology and creativity converge. With offices in Los Angeles and New York, ACC has signed its first two clients: Pepsi and iWi Life, the algae-based health and nutrition brand. More will be announced in 2019.
The three hires are the first to be announced by Nyman at the new company, and more senior level roles are expected to be filled shortly. Multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the branding, publicity and marketing divisions at many of Hollywood's top PR shops are currently maneuvering through choppy waters as client needs and demands — especially at the corporate level — are shifting in a social media- and influencer-dominated landscape.
In announcing the news, Nyman said he's "thrilled" to welcome the trio to ACC "as we build an entirely new model for marketing, media and brand advisory resources." He continued: "With their proven talent and deep experience, I couldn’t be more excited to welcome them to Acceleration as the company takes its next steps. I am really pleased to go into the new year with much of our operating group being set in place, and our advisory business rounding into shape, with more staff and client announcements expected in the new year, and our first couple of acquisitions targeted for the first half of the year.”
