Michael Rapaport to 'Shit Stain' Spike Lee: 'Say, 'You’re Stupid' to My Face' (Video)
The actor-director lashed out at Lee in their ongoing, and increasingly personal, feud, initially sparked by comments Lee made about gentrification in Brooklyn.
Michael Rapaport continued his ongoing feud with Spike Lee, which is getting increasingly personal, during an appearance on HuffPost Live on Tuesday.
The two filmmakers have been feuding over the issue of gentrification in Brooklyn, with Rapaport saying in response to Lee’s rant on the issue in February that the veteran filmmaker shouldn’t be talking about poor people in Brooklyn because he lives on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, adding that it’s good that once-abandoned neighborhoods have gotten better.

Lee shot back by saying, “Rapaport doesn’t know what he’s f—ing talking about,” calling Rapaport “stupid” in between explaining that the real issue is that poor people are being displaced from Williamsburg, Fort Greene and Clinton Hill because they can no longer afford to live there.
Rapaport made a few counter-arguments about the gentrification issue on Tuesday, saying that Brooklyn homeowners are happy that things have gotten better and that New York City in general is getting unaffordable, but he directed most of his remarks at Lee, using some choice words as the feud got personal and he was told Lee said Rapaport is a bad director.
“The other thing about that little shit stain Spike is he’s getting personal calling me stupid and all that shit … He thinks I’m a bad director? When's the last Spike Lee film you saw?” Rapaport asked host Marc Lamont Hill.
After Hill hesitated, Rapaport responded, “Exactly. That’s my point. Nobody goes to see them shits. And that’s why he was on Kickstarter. If Spike really cared about his movies, if he really wanted to get that movie made and it was a million-dollar budget, put it up yourself. If you really believe in it, don’t give away buttons and T-shirts from Girl 6. No one wants that shit, put the money up yourself. Take out a mortgage on your house.”

Rapaport explained that he didn’t make any money off of his Tribe Called Quest documentary, even though he put his own money into the film.
“Put your money where your mouth is … Yo, you do Air Jordan commercials and all of that ... put that into your film,” Rapaport added, addressing Lee.
But he saved his best words for Lee until the end of the segment.
“Spike likes to pop shit, but he doesn’t like anybody saying anything back to him,” Rapaport said. “And you know all that, ‘You’re stupid and the movie sucks,’ I’m going to see him sooner or later. I want to see him say, ‘You’re stupid and your movie sucks’ right to my face.”
