Michelle Obama Wore Festive Gucci Frock to Final Kennedy Center Honors
Italian brands are working for Michelle Obama.
Though she's been known to sport American designers (Brandon Maxwell, Jason Wu and Tom Ford, to name a few), the first lady has turned to Italian brands for her final few months in the White House. Obama stunned in a shimmering rose gold Versace gown at the Italian State Dinner in October, and just last night stepped out in a custom creation for Hollywood's favorite Italian label, Gucci.
At her final Kennedy Center Honors as the first lady of the United States, Obama donned an off-the-shoulder silk crepe gown in a festive emerald hue with pearl and crystal brooch detail.
FLOTUS' decision to wear an Italian designer comes during a tumultuous time for Italy. Prime Minister Matteo Renzi announced over the weekend that he was stepping down after the country voted against his proposed reforms. Obama's gown could be interpreted as a stylish message of support to the country.
