The first lady went against her usual penchant for U.S. designers, instead opting for the Paris-based fashion house during President Obama's national address on Tuesday night.
Michelle Obama made the House floor go green with envy in a dazzling yet conservative Azzedine Alaia outfit during her husband's State of the Union address on Tuesday night.

Although this isn't the first time the first lady has been spotted in Alaia, her decision to wear a non-American label is surprising considering she has worn U.S.-based brands in past years for the presidential address (a raisin-colored long-sleeve number by Isaac Mizrahi in 2010, a silk Rachel Roy sheath in 2011, a deep blue dress by L.A.-based designer Barbara Tfank in 2012 and a glittery two-tone gown by N.Y.-based designer Jason Wu in 2013).
