Aronofsky wrote the script, which focuses on a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests come to their home, disrupting their lives.
Character details were not revealed.
A June production start is being penciled in for a release in 2017.
Aronofsky and his partners at Protozoa Pictures, Scott Franklin and Ari Handel, are producing.
Pfeiffer’s last screen appearance was with Robert De Niro in Luc Besson’s crime thriller The Family. She has two projects in the works, the HBO Bernie Madoff movie The Wizard of Lies and indie drama Beat-Up Little Seagull. She is repped by CAA, Management 360 and Hirsch Wallerstein.
Paradigm-repped Gleeson, who last year starred in Ex Machina and played a villain in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is joining Will Forte in A Futile and Stupid Gesture, Netflix’s movie about the founding of National Lampoon.
