Miley Cyrus gets parents for 'Last Song'

Greg Kinnear, Kelly Preston join Disney adaptation

Greg Kinnear and Kelly Preston will play Miley Cyrus' parents in "The Last Song," Disney's adaptation of the upcoming Nicholas Sparks novel.

Julie Anne Robinson is directing, and Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot are producing via their Offspring Entertainment.

The story centers on a rebellious teenager (Cyrus) who is forced to spend the summer with the father who left her years earlier.

Kinnear is the estranged father, a former Juilliard professor and concert pianist. Preston plays the mother.

Already in the cast is Liam Hemsworth, playing a member of the local cool crowd, an awesome beach volleyball player with Ivy League dreams.

The movie began shooting Monday in Georgia.

CAA-repped Kinnear last starred in "Flash of Genius" and "Ghost Town" and recently wrapped Paul Greengrass' "Green Zone" opposite Matt Damon.

Preston, repped by CAA, next appears in Disney's "Old Dogs" with husband John Travolta and Robin Williams.
