'Milk' earns producers guild's Kramer nod
Guild to honor biography's social consciousnessThe Producers Guild of America will bestow its annual Stanley Kramer Award, which recognizes work that dramatically illuminates provocative social issues, on Focus Features' "Milk," Gus Van Sant's account of gay activist Harvey Milk.
Producers Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen will accept the award at the 20th annual PGA Awards on Jan. 24 at the Hollywood Palladium.
PGA Awards co-chairs David Friendly and Laurence Mark said "Milk" was chosen as 2008's recipient "because the film so completely and so boldly embodies the tradition and spirit of its namesake, Stanley Kramer."
"Milk" is a Focus presentation in association with Axon Films of a Groundswell production and a Jinks/Cohen Co. production. Executive producers are Michael London, Dustin Lance Black, Bruna Papandrea, Barbara A. Hall, and William Horberg.
