Milos set for Banff nod

TORONTO -- Sofia Milos will receive the 2008 Award of Excellence at the upcoming Banff World Television Festival, organizers said Thursday.

Milos, who currently stars as a U.S. homeland security agent in "The Border," a Canadian drama on the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., will be honored June 9 for her acting accomplishments, which include five seasons on "CSI Miami" and cameo roles in "The Sopranos," "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Friends."

"Sofia's expansive range as an actor has earned her international recognition and admiration," Banff executive director Jennifer Harkness said in explaining this year's choice for the honor.

Past recipients include Carol Mendelsohn, David Chase, Gary David Goldberg and Norman Jewison.

The Banff World Television Festival is set to run June 8-11 in the Canadian Rockies.
