Have yourself 'A Very Merry Mindy' this year, starting with a gift to the Tory Burch Foundation.

The last — and, arguably, the most important — of the post-Thanksgiving shopping holidays is upon us.

Giving Tuesday, the responsible little sister of the more rambunctious Black Friday and studious Cyber Monday, is here to drain whatever spare change is left rattling around in your bank account — for the greater good.

There are several retailers participating in the charitable holiday, including Tory Burch and Tory Sport, which will donate 20 percent of proceeds from full-price sales online and in stores in North America to the Tory Burch Foundation. Founded by the designer in 2009, the foundation supports female entrepreneurs by providing not just capital, but also resources, education and networking opportunities to burgeoning business leaders.

This season, Burch teamed up with actress and mom-to-be Mindy Kaling on a tongue-in-cheek holiday video that highlights both the designers' best gifts as well as the Tory Burch Foundation Seed Box, which features products from the foundation's female entrepreneurs.

Pret-a-Reporter caught up with Kaling ahead of #GivingTuesday to chat about how to give back this season, what puts her in the holiday mood and the best gift she's ever received (hint: it isn't store-bought).

Why did you want to collaborate with Tory Burch on this video?

Tory is an icon and I’ve had a friendship with her for a long time. She threw my book party for my first book, and I went to the Met Gala with her last year. I adore her. When she asked if I would star in a holiday video with her to draw attention to the Tory Burch Foundation and their awesome holiday seed box, I immediately said yes.

What are you doing for this Giving Tuesday?

There are so many worthy organizations who could use our help. I love Pancan.org, and they are especially meaningful to me. Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of any cancer. Awareness and research is so crucial if we want to change those statistics. Pancan provides resources about new trials and supports families like no other organization.

What is the one thing that puts you in the holiday mood?

Listening to “Last Christmas” by Wham!

Favorite holiday tradition?

I love watching You’ve Got Mail, though it’s not really a holiday movie.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?

I promoted my former assistant to a writer on my staff, and to thank me, she choreographed a dance for me. I was so moved.

The worst?

In college, a relative once gave me a book on weight loss. Wasn’t crazy about that.
