MIPCOM: Cineflix Rights Inks First-Look Deal With Waddell Media

The Irish producer has launched a new division to focus on U.K. and U.S. co-productions with financing secured by the Canadian distributor.

CANNES – Indie distributor Cineflix Rights has inked a first-look development and distribution deal with Irish producer Waddell Media.

Ahead of MIPCOM, Waddell is launching a new division, Waddell Media International, to focus on U.K. and U.S. co-productions and cross-platform content.

Cineflix Rights, a division of Montreal-based Cineflix Media, will help finance Waddell programming through presales and co-production coin.

The new deal has financing from Northern Ireland Screen.

The deal was negotiated by Cineflix Rights senior vp acquisitions Noel Hedges and Waddell Media’s creative director Jon-Barrie Waddell.

Waddell Media is best known for TV credits like Future Weapons, How Jaws Changed The World, The Farm Fixer, Texas Rodeo Tykes and Nick Hewer’s Countdown to Freetown.
