MIPTV attracts big names to Croisette

PARIS -- Shirley MacLaine, Sam Neill, Tracey Ullman are among a potpourri of international talent headed to MIPTV, organizers said Monday. MacLaine will be in Cannes to present miniseries "Coco Chanel," in which she stars as the French fashion designer. MacLaine's presentation is part of producer-distributor Alchemy Television's April 7 media event that also will feature Neill ("Iron Road"), Derek Jacobi ("Diamonds") and Bradley Whitford ("Burn Up").

Ullman will be on the Croisette with her new Showtime series "State of the Union." She'll be joined by fellow Brit comedians Sanjeev Bhaskar, presenting new series "Mumbai Calling," and Brian Conley, who will host the International Interactive Emmy Awards ceremony at MIPTV on April 8.

Meanwhile, the New Miss World, Zi Lin Zhang of the People's Republic of China, will enter the MIPTV universe for Zeal Entertainment, which distributes the Miss World Festival internationally.

Argentine stars Carla Peterson and Luciano will be in town with their internationally successful telenovela "Lalola," while mentalist Uri Geller will bring some Israeli flavor to Cannes with his new show "Staya Erusa: Find the Book of Knowledge."
