The TV thriller lets viewers decide whether a solider who shoots down a hijacked plane is guilty or innocent of murder.

German sales powerhouse Beta Film has picked up made-for-TV movie Terror, which offers viewers the choice of picking their own ending.

The German drama follows a plane hijacked by terrorists who order the pilot to crash into a packed soccer stadium. A fighter pilot, acting against orders, shoots down the hijacked plane, and is later put on trial for murder.

After following the drama of the court case and hearing the evidence for the defense and prosecution, the TV viewers are asked to vote on the pilot's fate. The feature, based on the work of German best-selling author Ferdinand von Schirach, is directed by Lars Kraume (The People vs. Fritz Bauer) and produced by Constantin Film's Oliver Berben, whose credits include the miniseries Hotel Adlon — A Family Saga and German box-office hit Look Who's Back.

Beta is offering the TV movie to international buyers at MIPTV alongside real-life drama NSU German History X, about a cell of neo-Nazi terrorists who are accused of killing at least 10 people between 2000 and 2007. The only known survivor of the NSU terror cell is currently on trial in Germany. Gabriela Sperl produced NSU for Wiedemann and Berg Television.
