Spanish network Antena 3 has ordered a second season of Velvet after season one debuted on the channel last month with an extraordinary 25 percent market share, drawing some 5 million viewers.

Created by Ramon Campos and Gema R. Neira, the team behind Grand Hotel, Velvet was directed by Carlos Sedes and David Pinillos. Beta Cinema is handling international sales rights on both the series and remake rights.

Beta has sold Grand Hotel to more than 60 territories worldwide. The series, described as a Spanish Downton Abbey, is set in 1950 in a luxury hotel in the idyllic Spanish countryside.
