MIPTV: Klaus Zimmermann Sets Up Dynamic Operations in Europe

TNT will premiere the first two seasons of the "Transporter" series in the U.S. starting this Fall.

The producer of Euro-based TV series “Borgia” and “Transporter” will launch Dynamic divisions in Paris and Berlin.

Veteran German TV producer Klaus Zimmermann has joined international sales and packaging group Dynamic Television as managing partner.

Zimmermann, whose credits as a producer include the European-based TV series Borgia and Transporter, will set up new Dynamic operations in Paris and Berlin, Dynamic TV founder Daniel March announced Monday.

Zimmermann has been one of the pioneers of international financing of English-language TV series, helping set up and produce the short-lived Paris-based procedural Jo starring Jean Reno and the BBC/France Television series Death in Paradise, currently in its third season. The former co-CEO of Atlantique Productions, producers of Borgia and Transporter, he stepped down last year.

BERLIN: Transporter Reboot Gets Greenlight

His biggest production, the action series Transporter, starring Chris Vance in the small-screen adaptation of Luc Besson's hit action franchise, was successful in several international territories but suffered from major production headaches, and struggled to find a U.S. broadcaster. Cinemax had originally ordered the show back in 2011, but after much back and forth, TNT came in to pick up the first two seasons, with the U.S. bow planned for this fall.
