Miranda Kerr's Beauty Line Now Offers Supplements
As part of her beauty routine, the model says she eats papaya with lemon and drinks the Noni Glow Skinfood Supplement with her morning smoothies.
Miranda Kerr has plenty to glow about. There's her non-stop modeling career, which has been at full blast since she was 13; her recently revamped skin and body care collection, Kora Organics; and even her intimate May wedding to Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel apparently went off without a (paparazzi) hitch.
But for the budding beauty entrepreneur, it's her focus on business that has taken the majority of her attention. Kerr recently added new products to the personal care line, getting into the ingestible beauty game alongside other brands like Goop, Moon Juice, Hum and Ouai, which all offer beauty-from-the-inside-out supplements in powder or pill form.
Kerr's version is called Noni Glow Skinfood Supplement and comes as individual packets (a box of 30 6g single-serve packets costs $55), ideal for taking on the go. In fact, noni fruit is at the heart of her entire Kora Organics line, which was recently rebranded and more widely distributed through Sephora stores. Kerr stresses the benefits of noni as a star ingredient said to have high levels of antioxidants, plus vitamins A and C, and uses it throughout the line in the Glow supplement as well as face and body oils.
The focus on one ingredient in an all-natural line rings of when Josie Maran introduced her cosmetics line based on argan oil to the world. Does noni fruit have the potential to be a hot beauty ingredient, a la argan oil?
Here, Kerr discusses her experience with noni fruit and why she's chosen to base her beauty business on its potential benefits.
How did you discover the noni fruit?
My grandmother was the one who introduced me to Noni juice when I was about 13 years old and I’ve been using it daily ever since. Not only have I been drinking it for years (my son drinks it as well), but whenever I was younger and got a pimple or sunburn, I used to put it directly onto my skin and it would help soothe and improve the clarity of my skin.
Why is it such a prevalent ingredient in your line?
Noni is a superfood that is super-high in antioxidants and also contains over 100 vitamins and minerals, including high amounts of vitamins A and C. These powerful antioxidants protect your skin from environmental damage caused by free radicals, which are constantly stressing our skin and can lead to the signs of premature aging. It’s anti-aging, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and can also help to enhance immune performance.
What is the one product you are never without and why?
It's so hard to choose one! But if I had to, I would probably pick our new Noni Glow Skinfood Supplement, which is a water soluble powder packaged into single-serve sachets. I always carry some in my handbag with me and start my day drinking it or have one whenever I need an extra boost of energy. It contains noni, acai, blueberry, mangosteen, pomegranate, matcha green tea, rose hip, chlorella and elderberry flower.
Does your summer beauty regimen change compared to the rest of the year? How so?
In general, my skincare regimen remains pretty consistent throughout the year. However, during hotter months I tend to opt for a tinted moisturizer rather than foundation.
What do you do for sun defense in the summer?
I use Actinica Liposomal 50+ sunscreen and wear a hat and stay in the shade when possible.
What are some of the best beauty foods you believe in and eat for an inside-out approach to beauty?
Drinking the Noni Glow Skinfood Supplement that I mentioned earlier is definitely one of them — I now use this instead of drinking the straight noni juice as it contains Noni but is also full of other superfoods. I also like to add it to my morning smoothie sometimes, which is usually filled with greens — kale, cucumber, broccoli, celery, avocado, etc. I also love to eat papaya with lemon. Papaya is super-high in vitamin C, which is important for a strong immune system and radiant skin.
What is your hero product for in-flight/summer travel?
Definitely the KORA Organics Noni Glow Face Oil. It contains high levels of antioxidants, essential fatty acids and vitamins and minerals to smooth, nourish and brighten the skin. It’s transformative, anti-aging, super-hydrating and also reparative — helping turn back the clock! I use it religiously each night as a treatment oil and when I wake up, my skin is glowing. In the morning, I like to mix a couple drops with my moisturizer and apply it as a base before makeup. I also never travel without it and apply it throughout flights to keep my skin hydrated and protected from the drying effects of the cabin.
