Paging Ferguson

HarperCollins has acquired the rights to "American on Purpose," a memoir by Craig Ferguson, host of CBS' "Late Late Show." The book, slated for release in fall 2009, chronicles Endeavor-repped Ferguson's journey from Scotland to Hollywood.

Root sees 'Blood'

Stephen Root has signed on for a three-episode arc in HBO's upcoming drama "True Blood." He will play Eddie Gautier, a lonely vampire smitten with Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis). Root is repped by Brillstein Entertainment and attorney Craig Jacobson.

More 'Practice'

David Sutcliffe will return to ABC's "Private Practice." Sutcliffe, who guest starred on the medical drama in the fall, will appear in 11 episodes next season, reprising his role as Officer Kevin Nelson, a new love interest for Dr. Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh). He is repped by WMA and Robert Stein Management.

A kick from Coldplay

Music by Coldplay will be featured next month in promotions for ESPN's coverage of the European Championship soccer tournament, the sports network said Wednesday. The quadrennial tournament is set to run June 7-29 in Austria and Switzerland.

Enough with the 'Sex'

Oxygen's "Talk Sex," a call-in show starring seventysomething educator Sue Johanson, is ending its run after six seasons, the Associated Press reported.
