Africa in Focus

Focus Features is launching the Africa First Program, offering five filmmakers $10,000 each to produce narrative shorts in continental Africa. AFP was conceived and will be supervised by Kisha Imani Cameron, whose Completion Films has a first-look and consulting deal with Focus. Submissions will be accepted through July 15.

Saturn winners

"Enchanted" took home three awards, including best fantasy picture and best actress for Amy Adams, at the 34th annual Saturn Awards, presented Tuesday by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror. "Lost" was the big TV winner, scoring four awards.

Cole upped at Uni

Suzanne Cole has been promoted to executive vp media at Universal Pictures. She was senior vp, a post she had held since 2004. In her new position, Cole will continue to oversee all strategic activities in print, broadcast, online and outdoor media for theatrical and DVD releases.

Warners' Hayes act

Jacqueline Jourdain Hayes has been named senior vp business and legal affairs at Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. Hayes joined Warners in 1998 as counsel at Warner Home Video.

Aviv fete set

Walt Disney Studios' Oren Aviv will be honored Sept. 25 at the 34th annual Dinner of Champions, which benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
