SoapNet nabs SPT Pics

SoapNet has acquired a package of 19 films, including "Hitch" and "Fun With Dick and Jane," from Sony Pictures Television for the cable network's Sunday Night Movie block. The movies begin airing this month at 10 p.m.

AFL punts on '09

The Arena Football League said Monday that it will suspend its 2009 season. ESPN has a long-term agreement to televise games nationally under a deal that gave Disney a financial stake in the league. News Corp.-owned FSN also carries games.

'Ashes' to U.S.

BBC America has acquired the U.S. premiere of "Ashes to Ashes," the sequel to the British series "Life on Mars," for a March premiere. The series is produced by Kudos Film & Television and Monastic Prods.


Current Media has inked a deal with Rotten Tomatoes to create a series based on the movie-review Web site. The half-hour series "The Rotten Tomatoes Show on Current" will air on Current TV and at Current.com and RottenTomatoes.com.

'Atlanta' back

Bravo has renewed "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," the network's first docudrama series to crack the 2 million viewer mark in adults 18-49.
