Paul Iacono has landed the lead on the MTV comedy pilot "Hard Times." The project, written by Seth Grahame-Smith and produced and directed by David Katzenberg (son of DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey), centers on a well-endowed high school geek (Iacono) whose social status improves after accidentally exposing himself. Iacono is repped by Abrams Artists.
Spike TV has begun production on a special episode of its upcoming original series "Surviving Disaster" focused on how to survive swine flu and other pandemics. No airdate has been set.
The forces behind "TMZ" are teaming for "Beyond Twisted," a syndicated show incorporating professional and user- generated content. Beginning July 6, Fox-owned TV stations will air an eight-week test run of the series.
The premiere of Disney Channel's "Jonas" did OK in the ratings Saturday, pulling in 1.6 million viewers in the kids 6-11 demographic and 1.6 million in tweens 9-14. It was the nights' highest-rated show in both demos, though in kids 6-11 it was the lowest-rated live-action premiere for a Disney series in nearly four years.
