MK2, Proust draw up partnership

PARIS -- French production, distribution and international sales company MK2 is turning the page with a new partnership with Gallic publisher Emmanuel Proust, the company said Wednesday.

MK2 holds 49% of Proust, which specializes in graphic novels and comic books, with the option to increase shares in the future.

"I feel that Emmanuel Proust does in comic book publishing what we've been doing for over 30 years in film. They bring a real 'auteur' politic, they discover talents of all nationalities and create quality-filled yet accessible comics," MK2 general director Nathanael Karmitz said.

MK2 is hoping the collaboration will allow the producer to bring more books to the big screen and vice versa. MK2 is currently in production on Pascal Herold and Jerome Deschamps' animated tale "The True Story of Puss 'n Boots," which Proust will adapt into a comic book. MK2 hopes to draw from Proust's more than 120 titles and 30-40 future projects to be released per year by the publisher.
