Sarah Hyland

Hyland loved "Halloween": "It was the only time where I've ever truly broken character and have not been able to get back in it because I was laughing so hard. Just looking at Ed's face made me laugh. It was so much fun to shoot."

The ensemble cast of the microbudget film includes Steve Howey, Bret Harrison and Beau Mirchoff.

Modern Family star Sarah Hyland will topline and produce the micobudget comedy drama See You in Valhalla, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

See You in Valhalla tells the story of Jo Burwood (Hyland), a young woman who returns home to reunite with her estranged family after the death of her brother. With family secrets, old flames, small-town gossip and an uncomfortable family reunion looming, Jo must find a way to navigate and accept her past while preserving her present.

Hyland leads an ensemble cast that includes Steve Howey, Bret Harrison, Michael Weston, Jake McDorman, Alex Frost, Odeya Rush, Emma Bell, Allie Gonino, Beau Mirchoff and Conor O'Farrell.

Tarnol Group Pictures will produce See You in Valhalla, penned by Brent A. Tarnol and directed by Jarret Tarnol. Matt Prokop, Bernie Gewissler and Hyland are producers. This isn't Hyland's first foray into producing; in 2011, she associate produced the short The Man at the Counter, starring her younger brother Ian and Tom Everett Scott.

Production recently began in Los Angeles and will wrap Aug. 11.

Hyland, who plays Haley Dunphy on ABC's Modern Family, is repped by WME, RKM Management and attorney Lev Ginsburg. Her film credits include Struck by Lightning and Scary Movie; the actress appears in Lifetime/A&E/History Channel's Bonnie and Clyde miniseries later this year and stars in 2014's Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters.
