Mohr joining office party in CBS pilot

Jay Mohr is set to star in CBS' untitled Kohan/ Mutchnick comedy pilot.

Meanwhile, Josh Gad and Ayda Field have become last-minute additions to Fox's comedy pilot "Back to You," as two roles on the project, formerly titled "Action News," are being recast.

The Kohan/Mutchnick project, from Warner Bros. TV and KoMut Entertainment, is an office-buddy comedy about two friends and writing partners — one straight (Mohr) and one gay (Brian Austin Green) — and the women (Jessica Capshaw, Vanessa Lengies) who work with them. Mohr's character is a guy's guy who loves sports and reads a lot.

Mohr's casting stems from his talent holding deal with CBS. He also recurs on the network's drama "Ghost Whisperer," from ABC TV Studio and CBS Paramount Network TV.

If the Kohan/Mutchnick pilot doesn't go to series, Mohr will segue into a development deal with CBS Par TV. He also will become a regular on "Ghost" if the show is picked up for a third season.

Mohr, whose TV credits also include the Fox comedy series "Action" and NBC's reality show "Last Comic Standing," is repped by Paradigm and attorney Todd Rubenstein.

"Back," from 20th Century Fox TV, is an ensemble comedy set at a local TV station that centers on an womanizing newscaster (Kelsey Grammer) who must co-anchor with his ex (Patricia Heaton).

Gad will play the station's young, corporate-type news director. He replaces Paul Campbell, who originally was cast in the role. Field will play a former child beauty pageant winner hired as a weather girl. She replaces Aimee Garcia.

Both Gad and Field have been tapped as guest stars in the pilot, which is scheduled to shoot Friday. They may be upped to regulars on the project, which has a series commitment.

Gad is shooting Robert Luketic's "21" and is taking a break from the feature to tape "Back." He is repped by ICM and manager Diane Perez.

For Field, "Back" is in second position to ABC's untitled Sachs/Judah comedy pilot.
