UTV collects $70 mil in IPO

NEW DELHI — Diversified Mumbai-based media company UTV Software Communications announced Tuesday the "book closure" of the initial public offering on London's Alternative Investment Market of its UTV Motion Pictures Plc. film unit. A UTV spokesperson said the stock listing "will take place in June, possibly next week." UTV raised $70 million in the IPO, which puts a market valuation of $309.3 million on the film company.

Pro in Senator's control

COLOGNE, Germany — Senator Entertainment has acquired a 51% stake in Pro, the production company of one of Germany's leading on-air personalities, talk show host and amateur TV chef Alfred Biolek. The Cologne-based production company made its name with some of Germany's most successful talk and light entertainment programs, including late-night talker "Boulevard Bio" and the variety show "Bio's Bahnhof." Pro also has produced several drama series, including the critically acclaimed detective show "The Elephant," a co-production with teamWorx for Sat.1, and the crime sitcom "The Little Monk" for public broadcaster ZDF.
