The Broadway-bound production is part of a new partnership between Hasbro and The Araca Group. Could a play based on Play-Doh be next?

Pass go, collect $200 and land on Broadway?

A stage musical based on the beloved board game Monopoly is in the works, thanks to a new partnership between Hasbro and The Araca Group that will create stage shows based on popular Hasbro properties.

Monopoly: The Musical is being developed ultimately for Broadway, which would be a Hasbro first. A creative team and timeline will be announced at a later date.

"Monopoly is one of the most iconic gaming brands of all time," said Simon Waters, general manager and SVP, Hasbro Entertainment and Consumer Products. "Hasbro is dedicated to delivering new and exciting ways for consumers to interact with all of our brands, and this stage adaptation will do just that — offering fans a unique and immersive experience for people of all ages."

The Araca Group has been part of the production team of various Broadway shows over the years, including Shuffle Along, or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed, Disgraced and Urinetown. The group's license from Hasbro coincides with the recent launch of Araca Media & Entertainment, a new content division focused on adapting iconic brands and franchises into live events around the world.

Hasbro's properties also include Magic: The Gathering, My Little Pony, Nerf and Transformers, among others. Could a play based on Play-Doh be next?
