Montecito takes a whack at 'Granny'

Comedy centers on two men who kill an elderly woman

No bad deed goes unrewarded.

TV writer-producer Steve Leff has sold his artfully titled spec "Doc & Howie Whack a Granny" to the Montecito Picture Co.

The comedy revolves around two men who inadvertently kill a frail elderly woman when they neglect to help her carry groceries up stairs. On the plus side, the incident puts them in position to get closer to the woman's attractive granddaughters.

Leff, repped by UTA and Rain Management, has been a consulting producer on CBS' "Two and a Half Men" and a writer for HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

Montecito, which has a first-look deal at Paramount, is producing "Chloe," "Up in the Air" and "Post Grad," the latter of which hits theaters this month. The company also has two Elizabeth Meriwether projects in development: "Honey Pot" and "Fuckbuddies."
