'Moonlight' Star Mahershala Ali Joining Action Film 'Triple Frontier'
The recent SAG Award winner will join Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum in the film.
Fresh off his win at the SAG Awards, Moonlight star Mahershala Ali is lining up another project.
The actor, who has received a slew of critical acclaim and awards recognition for his work in Barry Jenkins' coming-of-age story Moonlight, is in talks to join Triple Frontier.
J.C. Chandor is directing the film, which has a screenplay by Mark Boal. The action-adventure pic is set in the border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil.
So far, it has a strong cast coming together for the project, which also has Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum attached.
The project, which has been around since 2009, is being produced by Charles Roven and Alex Gartner of Atlas Entertainment along with Boal.
Ali has had a banner year. Along with his notable work in Moonlight, the actor also appears in Hidden Figures with Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae. His credits also include the Netflix series Luke Cage and House of Cards.
Ali also starred in Roxanne Roxanne, which had a breakout debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January. He is currently shooting Robert Rodriguez’s Alita: Battle Angel.
Ali is repped by WME, Anonymous Content and Sloane, Offer.
