More on Eck's plate at NBC Uni

NBC Universal said Tuesday that it has named John Eck president of the NBC TV Network and Media Works.

Eck will continue to be in charge of information technology, studio operations, film/TV production and postproduction as he has in his role as president of Media Works and chief information officer. He will add responsibility for NBC affiliate relations and NBC network operations, which had been done by Jay Ireland, former president of NBC Universal Television Stations and Network Operations.

Eck reports to NBC Uni president and CEO Jeff Zucker. He will work closely with NBC Uni general counsel Rick Cotton to represent NBC at the National Association of Broadcasters.

Eck was promoted to president of Media Works and chief information officer in July 2005 when the company's Technology and Television and Studio Operations units were merged. Among his responsibilities are the real estate NBC Uni owns in Rockefeller Center, Burbank and Universal City.

As president of Television and Studio Operations, Eck helped integrate NBC Uni in 2004 with the merger of NBC and Vivendi Universal. He also was been president of NBC broadcast and network operations, senior vp and CFO for NBC International and Business Development. He joined NBC in 1993 as vp financial planning and analysis.
