Moscow police seize 500,000 pirated discs

'Wanted' among the titles found in production facility

MOSCOW -- As part of a crackdown on DVD and CD piracy, police on Wednesday shut down a large production facility in the Moscow region, seizing about 500,000 pirated DVDs, all of which bore the Universal logo.

According to a spokesman for the Moscow police's organized crime department, the pirates' ledgers showed that they already had produced and sold more than 1 million copies of Timur Bekmambetov's movie "Wanted." Forty people were detained.
