More Cannes coverage

CANNES -- Moving Pictures Film and Television scored output deals, ranging from 30-50 titles from its catalog, with Polyphony for Australia, Septieme Factory for France and Cinema Novo CRL for Portugal.

The agreement with Polyphony will initially include distribution rights more than 50 titles. Polyphony's Richard Sheffield will oversee the five-year deal that can expand beyond the original 50 titles as certain performance levels are met.

The deal with Septieme Factory will initially encompass 45 titles, including five Spanish-produced animated features. Overseen by Septieme's Nancy de Meritens, the agreement will continue to expand beyond the initial 45 titles as certain performance levels are met.

Additionally, MPFTV executed a 30 film output agreement with Cinema Novo CRL for Portugal.

"In a time when the economy is challenging the industry like never before, long-term deals like this are vital in building some positive momentum," MPTV vp Ted Chalmers said.
