MPI Media Group Acquires 'Bag of Hammers'

The Jason Ritter-Rebecca Hall film will be released in theaters in August.

MPI Media Group has acquired North American rights to Bag of Hammers, a comedy-drama starring Jason Ritter, Jake Sandvig and Rebecca Hall.

A co-production of Manor Film, Two Ships and Locomotive, the film was directed by Brian Crano from a screenplay he wrote with Sandvig. It was produced by Peter Friedlander, Lucy Barzun Donnelly and Jennifer Barrons.

Sandvig and Ritter play slacker buddies who run a valet-parking scam to steal cars. Their operation is threatened when a stressed-out single mom (Carrie Preston) moves in next door with her street-smart young son.

MPI plans to release the movie, which played the South by Southwest film festival, theatrically in August.

The deal was negotiated by MPI’s Greg Newman and Submarine’s Josh Braun.
