MTV Movie Awards 2015: Kevin Hart Spotlights His Kids in Comedic Genius Award Speech (Video)
The awards show is taking place Sunday at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live, hosted by Amy Schumer.
Kevin Hart was honored with the comedic genius award at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night.
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel presented the award to the actor-comedian, who was recognized by MTV for his "bold and irreverent comedic style that has captivated audiences from his movies and sitcoms, to stand-up specials, award show performances and in front of packed arenas of fans."
"It wasn't easy for Kevin — they said Kevin was too small to be a comedy giant. They said he wasn't large enough. The other comedians made fun of him. They called him names like Eddie Smurphy, Tracy Munchkin, Cedric the Enter-tiny, Bernie MacNugget," Kimmel joked before referring to Hart as "one of the funniest guys on the planet" and calling him to the stage.
Hart, who was joined onstage by his two children, thanked his fiancee and his ex-wife "for giving me these two beautiful kids who are my best friends. … You all wonder why I work so hard — it's all for them," he said.
Following his win, the comedian took to Instagram to post a photo of him with his kids, captioned, "Me & my Best friends hanging out at the MTV Movie Awards .....We are the HART's."
Hart most recently starred in Get Hard and The Wedding Ringer and served as the roastmaster of Justin Bieber's Comedy Central roast. The actor's Get Hard co-star Will Ferrell was the very first recipient of the award at the 2013 awards ceremony.
Amy Schumer is hosting the 2015 MTV Movie Awards, which is being broadcast live on MTV from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
