MTV Movie Awards: 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' 'Fault in Our Stars,' 'Neighbors' Lead Nominations

Guardians of the Galaxy Still 1 - H 2014

'Fault' star Ansel Elgort and 'Neighbors' lead Seth Rogen each have five individual nominations.

The 2015 MTV Movie Awards nominations were unveiled on Wednesday morning, with Guardians of the Galaxy, The Fault in Our Stars and Neighbors earning a leading seven nominations each. Neighbors, however, wasn't nominated for the top prize of movie of the year. In that category, Guardians and TFIOS will face off against American Sniper, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1, Gone Girl, Boyhood, Whiplash and Selma.

The male stars of TFIOS and Neighbors, Ansel Elgort and Seth Rogen, each have five individual nominations and are both up for best duo and best kiss (with Shailene Woodley in Elgort's case and The Interview's James Franco in Rogen's case). Elgort is also up for best male performance, breakthrough performance and best shirtless performance. In the latter category, Elgort will go chest-to-chest with Chris Pratt (Guardians), Channing Tatum (Foxcatcher), Kate Upton (The Other Woman) and Rogen's Neighbors costar Zac Efron. Rogen, denied a best shirtless performance nom, is also up for best fight (against Efron in Neighbors), best WTF moment (with his other Neighbors co-star Rose Byrne) and best musical moment (also with Efron).

Whiplash and 22 Jump Street each earned five nominations, with best supporting actor Oscar winner J.K. Simmons up for the golden popcorn for his role in Whiplash. Gone Girl and the latest Hunger Games film scored four nominations each. Other films earning multiple nominations included Boyhood, Foxcatcher, The Maze Runner and Top Five, which nabbed three apiece, and American Sniper, Selma, Birdman, The Interview, Captain America: The Winter Solder and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which grabbed two each.
