MTV Networks Launch Weeklong Philanthropic Initiative (Exclusive)

Rising Seattle-based hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were there to perform in support of their self-released debut, The Heist, which shot to the No. 1 spot on iTunes and debuted at No. 2 on Billboard without the support of a major record label.

Usher, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Nick Cannon and Darren Criss take part in "Random Acts of mtvU."

MTV Networks is giving back to deserving college students through a new initiative, "Random Acts of mtvU."

Beginning Monday, MTV, MTV2 and mtvU will broadcast special segments surprising worthy college students throughout the U.S. with gifts with the help of stars Usher, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Nick Cannon and Darren Criss.

Each segment, which will play throughout the week, will premiere daily on MTV during the 4 p.m. EDT/PDT hour then run on sister networks MTV2 and mtvU.

The "Random Acts of mtvU" initiative kicks off Monday with Usher and MTV's Sway Calloway, Tuesday with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Wednesday with Cannon and Thursday with Criss. The Hollywood Reporter exclusively debuts a first look at Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' segment below.

The "Random Acts" include a $24,000 tuition gift, VIP passes, gear, gift cards, a grant and a trip to the MTV Video Music Awards.
